Recipe Notes:

Profile: Creamy hazelnut and sweet caramel custard.

Steep Time: best with age

The Breakdown:

RY4 Double (TPA):

The body and backbone of this profile for which the other ingredients layer onto. It begins the profile by offering up its sweet caramel, vanilla, nutty and slightly spicy/burnt/dark/earthy notes.

Hazelnut (FW):

Creamy, sweet and buttery roasted hazelnuts. It compliments RY4 Double so well and really shapes the profile.

Vanilla Custard (CAP):

It's buttery, rich, creamy, tasty and everyone's favourite custard for a reason. It is a very obvious choice for the custard note and also works really well with RY4 Double.

Caramel Candy (FW):

I think Flavor West really hit the nail on the head with this one. It tastes like those caramel candy's wrapped in cellophane. Its creamy, smooth, sweet, tastes like caramel and combines with RY4 Double to push forward its caramel note.

Acetyl Pirazine (TPA):

Where ever RY4 Doulbe is, Acetyl Pirazine should be close by. It increases the nutty, buttery and roasted notes, which enhances and completes the profile.

Notes

If your a fan of Gentleman's Custard I think you'll be very happy with this one. I have been continuously developing different recipes with RY4-VC-AP for awhile, as it's one of my favourite profiles. This recipe hits all the right notes and has taken its place in my daily rotation for good reason. Also, for a little more depth, try Red Oak (FA) 0.75% for a woody, earthy, smokey aged-cask note.
